Azog the Defiler

Azog the Defiler, also known as the Pale Orc, was one of Sauron's greatest servants and the self-proclaimed Orc-king of Moria. Of the Gundabad breed, was a commander of legions He had been handpicked by his master to lead a campaign to reclaim the former lands of Angmar and conquer north-eastern Middle-earth. Azog occupied the Dwarven delving of Khazad-dûm (now Moria) and made it his own seat of power. But his kingship was soon contested by the Dwarves of Erebor led by Thrór. As the War of Dwarves and Orcs unfurled, Azog slayed Thrór and took Thráin captive. Thráin's son Thorin badly wounded the Pale Orc by cutting of his arm, and so Azog vowed to wipe out the line of Durin. He pursued Thorin relentlessly, employing his hunter Orcs and legions to bring them to defeat.
