Thorin and Company were a group of thirteen Dwarves , the Wizard Gandalf , and the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins , led by Thorin . Boromir was a valiant warrior of Gondor, renowned for his prowess in combat and skill on the battlefield. He was the eldest son of Denethor, the twenty-sixth and last Ruling Steward of Gondor.
