Bard the Bowman

Bard the Bowman was a bargeman of Lake-town, and eventual founder and first king of the renewed kingdom of Dale. Bard was an excellent marksman, and with his Black Arrow he shot down and killed the dragon Smaug by hitting his only weakpoint- a missing scale from his hide. For this, the people appointed him as a leader and eventual king. He was succeeded as King of Dale by his son, Bain.
