The Eye of Sauron, also known as the Lidless Eye or the Eye of Mordor, and the Great Eye, sat atop Barad-Dûr. It was said that few could endure its terrible gaze. The Eye was also used as a symbol on armor and banners of Mordor, representing Sauron's quasi-omniscience. With it, Sauron searched for and tracked the paths of the Ring-bearer Frodo Baggins at the end of the Third Age. The Mouth of Sauron was one of Sauron's most devoted servants. He was the Lieutenant of the Tower of Barad-dûr during the War of the Ring. His original name was lost to history, forgotten even by himself. He was described as an evil man of tall stature, clad in black robes and a black, lofty helm.
