Treebeard and Ents

Treebeard, also known as Fangorn, was the oldest of the Ents left in Middle-earth, an ancient tree-like being who was a "shepherd of trees". He had a very tall and stiff-limbed appearance, with bark-like skin and leafy hair. The Ents became angry at Saruman, whose army had been cutting down a large number of their trees. They convened an Entmoot, a meeting of the Ents, to discuss the argument of going to war.

After lengthy deliberation and witnessing the destruction of the forest firsthand, they reached the conclusion to head toward Isengard and destroy it. Led by Treebeard, and accompanied by Merry and Pippin, they did so and trapped Saruman in the Tower of Orthanc. During this assault, they destroyed the dams built by Saruman's minions and flooded the place.
