The niece of King Théoden and sister too Éomer, Éowyn was a noblewoman of Rohan who called herself a shield-maiden. With the hobbit Merry Brandybuck, she rode into battle and killed the Witch-King of Angmar, Lord of the Nazgûl, in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and later married Faramir. Merry was one of four Hobbits in the Fellowship of the Ring. He became King Théoden's squire and joined Éowyn in battle.
